Love is seen as something different by many people. For some, it means falling in love with someone of the opposite sex, and having an intimate relationship with them. If you love someone, then you are likely having sex with that person as well. Or at least doing some deep French kissing in your car until the wee hours of the morning.
For others, love is equated with compassion or caring. When you love someone, you care a lot about their well being. You protect them, help them, and contribute to them. Thus, you can love most of your friends and family.
I’m going to throw in a third option which I’d like you to consider. What if love were an energy?
What if love was not just an emotion, but a real energy, which had real effects on people. The answer to all of our seeming problems. The healer of all of our wounds. The one thing that makes us united and whole.
What if love was an energy that was placed in our world as a way back to God. Out of all of this madness, and suffering, and ignorance, and cruelty, what if love were the way home?
Think about it. What are the properties of true, spiritual love?
Love Heals
Love heals emotional wounds. Some people even argue that love can heal physical wounds as well. When you open up to a loving person about something that has been troubling you, the loving energy of that person effectively erases your troubles and sorrows. Love effectively erases your fear, your worry, your shame, your guilt, and your suffering.
Whenever you confide your burdens unto a loving person, you get relief. Your burdens get lifted. Is it the person that provide release? Is it the person that brings comfort? Is it the person standing there, doing nothing at all, who brings you relief? How does emotional healing occur?
What if it were not the person doing the healing. What if it were, literally, their love that was doing the healing. What if they were sending love to you, as a form of energy, and love was healing your every wound.
Have you ever tried opening up to someone who didn’t love you at all? Have you ever tried crying on the shoulder of someone who is angry at you? Have you ever told someone your problems, only to be ridiculed for doing so?
Without the energy of love, it just isn’t the same. Without love, no healing occurs. You get no relief from your problems and issues. When love is absent, you fail to be healed.
What if it were the energy of love that heals emotional wounds?
Love Unites
There is nothing in this world that can unite people like love does. No words, activities, religion, or material thing can bring people together like the energy of love.
Even if you think about love as strictly an emotion, how many other emotions bring people together in a true fashion? Fear doesn’t bring us together. Anger doesn’t bring us together. Pride doesn’t bring us together. Depression doesn’t bring us together. Shame doesn’t bring us together. Guilt doesn’t bring us together.
Even lustful desire doesn’t bring us together in a true sense. Certainly, sex can bring our bodies together. But what does it do for our minds? What does it do to help unite our spirits? A whore can have sex with many men, and not even remember their name afterwards. How have they united?
What if love were a connecting force. A way to connect two minds together, and give them some commonality with each other. A way to unite people together, and make them whole.
What if love were our bridge maker. What if love built the bridges that connected us all together. What if it is the energy of love that unites us all.
Love Inspires
Not only does love heal and unite people, but love inspires and uplifts people as well. It makes us happier, lighter, more energetic, and gives us a feeling of well being that nothing else in this world can give us.
When you look at a beautiful painting, or watch the sunset, you are uplifted. When you listen to beautiful music, you are inspired. When you read beautiful poetry, it makes you smile.
What if it were not these things that uplifted you. What if it were the energy of love that uplifted and inspired you. What if love were building a stair case to heaven for you?
What if it was not the poetry that made you smile, but the love that was in the author’s heart when he wrote it. What if it was not the painting that was beautiful, but the joy of the painter when he painted it. What if it was not the sunset that was beautiful, but God’s love shining down on us?
Love – The Way Home
What if love were the way home. What if God placed love in this world as a beacon, a way to guide us back to Him.
What if, in all of this madness, and confusion, and ignorance, what if love is the answer. What if love is the answer to all of our questions. What if love is the healer of all of our wounds. What if love is the uniter of all things.
What if love is the way home?
